Dr. Christian Iliadis.UNC Professor Christian Iliadis, along with Prof. Sumner Starrfield and Frank Timmes of Arizona State, were awarded a $700,000 NASA grant to better understand how supernovae evolve prior to explosion. Their study seeks to resolve uncertainties in how stars create elements in nuclear fusion, forming the building blocks of life as we know it.
