The Diversity Committee of the Department of Physics and Astronomy would like to offer more than just words as our hearts go out to Asian/Americans recently traumatized by mass violence, and to all in our community who live daily with marginalization and harassment. To commit ourselves to a more active form of allyship, each one of us has signed up for bystander intervention training at https://www.ihollaback.org/. Training ourselves is the first step toward our goal of providing everyone in the department with the tools to prevent and interrupt the daily behaviors that set the stage for discrimination and violence. We believe that all of us can be part of the solution.
