For this workshop, Prof. Laurie McNeil recommends that you, “Bring an ad for a job you might imagine applying for!”
This is the third in the series of workshops to help students and postdocs who plan to seek post-graduation employment. In this workshop participants will learn how to use information from their career journal to construct a skills-based résumé (and how it differs from a CV) and how to tailor it to a specific technical job description. They will also learn how to write a cover letter to accompany a job application. To get maximum benefit, participants should bring an advertisement for a job that they could imagine wanting to apply for. It is not necessary to have participated in the previous two workshops.
