A student-led group of undergrads, grad students, faculty, and staff within the Physics & Astronomy department has put together an LGBTQ+ Allyship in the Classroom Workshop. This is for educators to learn how to make their classrooms more inclusive for LGBTQ+ students.
It is not associated with the university-wide SafeZone training — this is a short event, administered by students, and specifically geared toward teaching in physics, astronomy, and math.
(Some of you may have attended this event last spring — it is the same workshop and will have no new content. Of course, you’re welcome to come back if you want a refresher!)
The training will be offered virtually,
We will discuss how allyship can affect students’ learning, as well as specific actions that educators can take to create welcoming environments for LGBTQ+ students.
