Non-Academic Careers Forum
Pizza will be served!!
Physics Undergrads and Graduate Students are invited to come to a Non-Academic Careers Forum. Our guest speaker will be Ricky Spero, VP of Product Development and Co-Founder of Rheomics. Dr. Spero will give an informal overview of his experiences founding and building a spin-off company. We will also devote time for you to ask questions about career and life outside the academy. Dr. Spero earned his PhD in our Department under Rich Superfine. After graduation he helped found Rheomics, a spin-off company aimed at commercializing some of technologies he helped develop during his PhD work. Dr. Spero was involved in developing the business plan, manufacturing devices based on technology licensed from the University, and securing grant funding to start R&D on new products. He will talk about his path from scientist to entrepreneur and can answer questions about getting started in the Triangle startup scene.
