Two UNC Physics and Astronomy students, Joule Othman and Cora Went, have been awarded National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships for 2016. Joule is a second year graduate student at UNC, concentrating in Nuclear Physics. She completed her undergraduate work at the University of Houston, and is active in the UNC Physics and Astronomy Graduate Student Association. Cora is a 2015 UNC graduate who will be starting graduate school at CalTech this fall. She was a Morehead-Cain Scholar while at UNC, and was also the 2015 recipient of the Paul E. Shearin Outstanding Senior Award in Physics.

The department would like to congratulate both Joule and Cora on being selected for this very competitive fellowship, and we wish them continued success.
