I am Lawrence Machia, a third year graduate student in Nick Law’s lab, and I will be presenting on the Argus Optical Array and its prototypes. The Argus Optical Array will make a horizon-to-horizon movie of the night sky with 900 telescopes in a single instrument. It will capture thousands of short-lived and rapidly changing events like violent stellar flares and exploding stars, potentially discover new solar system objects, and even help us narrow down which kinds of stars may be most likely to host life on the worlds orbiting them. It is targeted for first light in 2027.
