Physics From the Ground Up

November 8, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

We are developing a new public talk series aimed at sharing the physics research being conducted in the department in an approachable and fun format for the general public. We are titling this talk series “Physics From the Ground Up,” and we will be hosted by Lanza’s Café in Carrboro! Our first scheduled event is Tuesday, November 8 from 6 – 8 pm.

We are looking for presenters to give ~20 min talks on their research (or some other physics topic of your choosing). If you would be interested in presenting at one of these events, please send an email to me and Sophie Kressy! Faculty and students welcome!  As we already have outlets for astronomy public talks such as Astronomy on Tap, priority will be given to physics research, but we encourage astro folk to present as well!

I hope you consider presenting! This is a great opportunity for our physics graduate students to gain skills presenting their work in a condensed and widely accessible way. It’s also an opportunity to connect with our community and increase excitement and literacy on various scientific subjects!

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me and Sophie!
