Phi Beta Kappa is the nation’s oldest collegiate honor society.

Phi Beta Kappa honor society inducted 144 new members into its UNC chapter during a ceremony on November 9, 2015. Remarks at the event were given by Emil Kang, UNC Executive Director for the Arts and the Executive and Artistic Director of Carolina Performing Arts. Please see the full UNC press release on the event here.

Among those inducted were four physics majors: Robert Alfredson, Adam Kunesh, Enrique Toloza, and Mitchell Young. Induction to Phi Beta Kappa is based on very stringent academic criteria, with less than one percent of undergraduates qualifying for an invitation to the honor society. The UNC Physics and Astronomy department wishes to congratulate these students for their achievement.
