Bernard Gray Distinguished Professor Laurie McNeil has been elected a member of the Council of Representatives of the American Physical Society.
The Council has oversight of APS’s publications and conferences, must approve all policy statements and science strategy actions, and gives final approval to all prizes, honors, and awards bestowed by the Society. The Council has 34 members who serve four-year terms representing the 54,000 APS members. Dr McNeil will be representing three membership units within APS: the Forum on Education, the Forum on Outreach and Engaging the Public, and the Topical Group on Physics Education Research. Prior to this, Dr McNeil’s recent service to APS has been as Past Chair of the Forum on Education in 2020.
